Biography

South African born designer, Niala Orsmond, is known for her minimalistic innovative designs and subtle elements, portraying political concepts.

In 1998, Niala studied Fine Arts and Jewelry Design at the University of Stellenbosch and experimented with ways to keep pushing boundaries and being provocative.

Her graduation show in 2001 caused a jewelry sensation, she won the title of best student of the year at the South African Jewelry Council's Jewellex Awards.

In 2002/03, the designer worked in London for Shaun Leane, known for collaborating with Alexander McQueen, Swarovski, Boucheron, Marc Jacobs and many more.

Niala Orsmond has been awarded a number of scholarship for her work in Munich, Germany. She specialised in conceptual jewelry design, fashioning her first efforts from bits and pieces of new German surroundings combined with her African roots. After exhibiting her work in Modern Museums and Galleries across several continents, Niala established her own luxury designer jewelry company - 'Niala∞' - in 2009. Niala∞'s jewelry - manufactured by both German based manufacturer, Albrecht Scharf and South African based manufacturer, Andreas Salver. Salver has been awarded the Jewelry Manufacturer Technical Awards numerous times. He is also known for his collaboration with De Beers, Anglo Gold and the Jewelry Council of South Africa.

Niala∞ embraces the enchanted world of sophisticated glamour and luxury. The unique pieces are all made of 18ct White, Yellow and Rose gold and in a selected combination with the best stones that come from the earth - diamonds and other precious gemstones.
